The Guemes Island Ferry, operated by Skagit County, has been facilitating passenger and vehicle transport between Anacortes and Guemes Island, WA, since the early 1960s. Currently, the ferry service utilizes the M/V GUEMES, a diesel-powered vessel that accommodates up to 21 vehicles and 99 passengers. This ferry was launched in 1979 and continues to function year-round, handling approximately 200,000 vehicles and 400,000 passengers annually.

Given the absence of alternative routes to Guemes Island, the ferry system is an essential mode of transportation for locals as well as visitors. The ferry not only aids in commuting but also supports tourism and carries construction vehicles, logging trucks, emergency services, and other critical supplies to the island community.
